Lots of flamingos and iguanas and beautiful views. Pros: -The private Renaissance Island is nice. It was mostly a view of the parking lot, but you could see the ocean just fine. We are Gold members and had an island suite with an 'ocean view'. But you can go out to the private island which is a really nice space. Not 'right on the beach' at either the 'adult side' or the ocean side rooms. This is a time share property so there is no late checkout allowed on Fridays even for Gold+ members. See long line at the front desk complaint above. Most annoying: the locks on the rooms seem to reset constantly (sometimes multiple times a day) so you have to queue up to get new keys daily. You see a lot of annoyance/anger in the lines daily.
Even on a holiday weekend they didn't bring in more staff to handle the volume.
Single biggest issue: the lines at the front desk are always ridiculously long (they really need a separate queue for just rekeying). Random bonus: the Carnaval Grand Parade goes right in front of the hotel so the parade view is great! It is walkable to a lot of shopping and restaurants (goto Que Pasa, Gauchos Argentina, Casa Tua and the Dutch Pancakehouse for breakfast or schnitzel for dinner!!)
